RED-LEGGED
PARTRIDGE
This rotund gamebird is
one of the prize species in
Portugal. It’s light brown
with a grey breast, a white
and black face and, of
course, red legs. These birds
can only y short distances
due to their rounded wings
but they are fast and hit
great heights, making them
challenging and rewarding
sport for shooters.

IBEX
The majestic Ibex has to
be high on most hunters’
lists as game they want to
outsmart and Portugal has
some excellent hunting for
these curve-horned beasts.
They are more common in
northern Portugal, where
the species you will hunt is
the famed Iberian Ibex.

RED DEER
A touch smaller in
stature but no less of an
exceptionally beautiful
animal than its Sco ish
cousin, Iberian red deer are
a hugely popular reason to
hunt in this country. Adult
males can weigh anything
up to 160kg and have a
slightly paler coat than
their northern European
counterparts. The terrain
and climate are very
di erent to somewhere
further north in Europe
where you can hunt these
deer, so a new challenge is
what a racts many hunters.
