Legislation Passed to House
to reauthorize Land and
Water Conservation Fund.
A bipartisan bill has been
unanimously approved to
permanently reauthorize
the Land and Water
Conservation Fund (LWCF).
The LWCF is known as
one of the nation’s most
important conservation
programs and has invested
more than $16 billion into
local communities in every
state since its inception in
1964 for everything from
public lands acquisitions
to development of local
public parks and waterway
access. Authorized to
receive $900 million
annually, the program costs
taxpayers nothing since it
is completely funded by

anglers with innovative and
quality fi shing tackle around
the world for more than 27
years and the brand’s latest

But it has only been fully
funded twice in over 50
years. The bill now moves to
House for approval and still
needs congressional support
for full funding.

We applaud these bipartisan

Marine
Park
Restrictions
The Australian state
of New South Wales’
government is bracing
itself for a potential
row with anglers over
a planned marine park
near Sydney.
The park, which would
stretch from Newcastle
to Wollongong, would
mean restrictions on
recreational fi shing in
25 zones, potentially
affecting hundreds of
thousands of anglers.
The government
estimates that there
are more than 850,000
recreational anglers in
NSW and that about
400,000 of those live
around Sydney, which
means that nearly half of
the anglers in NSW will
be personally affected.
Recreational anglers,
the tackle trade, boating
industry and fi shing
media are totally opposed
to these lockouts however
large scale opposition is
required to make sure the
proposals fail.
