Storm
Global lure brand, Storm, has released the R.I.P T-Bone soft lure, designed for a
higher percentage of hook-ups plus a realistic appearance and action, as Swedish
competition angler Jonatan Nellfors explains.
My background is
fi shing tournaments
and competitions,
especially for
predator species such as
pike, perch and zander. I
have used numerous baits,
lures and techniques over
the years. Trying out fresh
innovations is interesting
– I’m always eager to test
new things to fi nd anything
that might give me that
competitive advantage.”
JONATAN’S FIRST IMPRESSION
“I fi rst tried out the
Storm R.I.P. T-Bone in the
archipelago of southern
Sweden. It was fi rst light
and the weather was quite
challenging with heavy
winds and pouring rain.
On the cast, the T-Bone cut
nicely trough the strong
breeze, enabling me to cast
impressively long even
without additional weight on
the rig.
“As I was reeling in the
T-Bone, one thing I noticed
was that it behaved like a
bigger lure: It moved a lot
had completely engulfed
the collapsed T-Bone, and
the VMC hooks were nicely
exposed yet securely set in
the jaws of the pike.
“It was on my next outing
when fi shing the deeper
waters on a lake in Sweden
that I took a different
approach to the rigging
and used heavier weights.
Firstly I noticed that the
swimming action on the
leads to a better hook-up
rate than any other shad
of the same size. The lure
weighs in at 42g, which is 30
per cent lighter than most
soft baits of equivalent size.
The T-shape construction
stabilises the lure even at
high-speed retrieves and
produces an attractive,
rolling and tail-kicking
action while its 3D pectoral
fi ns and full-body rib pattern
create additional vibrations.
It is available unrigged or
rigged with the Storm R.I.P.
Multi-Depth Screw System
(MDS).
The cutting-edge MDS
System allows the angler
to customise its weight,
action and sinking rate of
the soft bait quickly, without
switching or re-rigging the
soft bait itself. Depending on
the conditions, weights can
be added or removed easily
by sliding them on the nose
screw and then locking them
in place with a snap
Each Storm MDS System
comes complete with three
weights of different mass,
two screws allowing you to
have multiple baits ready
and a crimped 80lb wire
rig with two VMC 2/0 Black
Nickel treble hooks. The rigs
are available with zinc or
lead weights.

drop down was outstanding!
Even with a 30g weight,
the T-Bone still kicked and
shook attractively. The
colour Redfi n Shiner (RFSH)
quickly became my personal
favourite as I prefer a more
natural look. I also enjoyed
the stability of the T-Bone
as it performed well at high
speeds without rolling over.
During the day I landed
some nice pike and felt very
confi dent with the Storm
R.I.P. T-Bone on my line.”
THE T-BONE
Storm’s R.I.P. T-Bone is a
soft bait with an innovative
18cm body that features a
T-shape cross section. This
allows the lure to collapse
on itself when attacked.
Storm says the collapsible
body exposes the hooks and
of water and generated
tons of vibration with its
ribbed body. The paddle
tail’s wiggling action was
incredible! It did not take
long before I came into
contact with a pike. The soft
plastic body held up even
better than I had hoped for.
“What I appreciate a lot
is its collapsing the body.
I’d say that more than 85
per cent of the fi sh I caught
