FEATURE | EFTTEX – A NORTH AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE
The European Fishing Tackle
Trade Exhibition, or EFTTEX for
short, is widely considered to be
THE trade show to exhibit at if
you are serious about growing your
business in European territories. Of
course, European companies make
good use of this and it certainly is a
show that can provide a great benefi t
to their businesses, but the rising
sum of American companies making
the trip over the Atlantic tells us that
they see the show as crucial to their
international business strategy.
Think of it like this. If you’re a
European company you may not NEED
to exhibit at EFTTEX, especially if you
are well-established. You can hop on a

With this view in mind, it was time
to get down and dirty on the show fl oor
and actually talk to the people that
mattered. The American exhibitors
who have all paid good money to be
at the show, in Amsterdam, to fi nd out
their views and plans for European
domination.
Joe Meehan, president of American
Tackle Company is now a regular on the
EFTTEX fl oorplan, he told Tackle Trade
World: “Our company is really growing
well over here in Europe. Besides our
own brands we produce components
for private brand rods, particularly
in Scandinavia, whilst producing a
number of components for private
brand lures too. The rods are mainly for
pike, perch and zander fi shing which is
out biggest market over here.
“Gary Benney, our European manager,
has really helped us to grow in this part
of the world, he lives in Scandinavia so
it’s great for us to have someone in the
territory with his fi nger on the pulse of
the market. Besides Scandinavia our
other big markets are the UK and Spain.

“The two main reasons
we are here is to attract
distributors and for brand
awareness. We are looking
for distributors in each
market.”
EFTTEX A North American
Perspective
We all know that EFTTEX is an important show and any company worth its salt should
be visiting in some capacity but, for American’s, it takes on an even greater importance,
as Tackle Trade World found out.
quick fl ight or drive to meet with your
partners. The same cannot be said for
those companies ‘across the pond’. It’s a
big expense to travel to Europe regularly
to meet distributors and retailers. So,
it makes sense to visit EFTTEX, where
you can see all the important people
you need to see, as well as potential
new customers, all under one roof. You
really can begin to understand why the
American market is, in our opinion, a
market that the team at EFTTEX are
now targeting in a big way.
