RED DEER
Th e feral hog is probably Argentina’s most
widespread big game animal, but the premier
species is the red stag. Populations are
established in many areas, but La Pampa
and Patagonia hold the largest free-range
populations.
Red deer were introduced for the very fi rst
time in the bush of the province of La Pampa
in 1909 and found the perfect environment to
thrive to the level of population of the present
days. A few years afterwards were taken to the
Patagonian mountains where they also found a
perfect habitat for them. Th at’s why those two
regions are the best red stag hunting areas in
Argentina.
Many other big-game species have been
introduced almost 100 years ago in those
traditional big-game hunting areas of Argentina
like axis deer, blackbuck, fallow deer, water
buff alo, Pere David’s deer, wild boar, moufl on,
wild goat and multihorned ram among others.
In summary, Argentina off ers a great variety
of hunting which makes it a prominent place in
the hunting world.
