UK-based Shield continues to manufacture the world’s
smallest, lightest, toughest mini red-dot sights that enable a
co-witness with standard height iron sights.
Shield Sights was formed in 1986 in Great
Britain and all sights have been born and
bred in Dorset, England since 1996.
Sold under other brand names for
many years, the company has always paid
particular a ention to certain details when
designing red-dot sights.
Fit – the most e icient interconnection between
sight and gun.
Form – the sight is small, light and clear whilst
o ering the best visual characteristics.
Function – the sight improves the shooters’
ability to hit any chosen target early.
“As shooters ourselves we want to evolve
equipment to ensure our customers get the best
result from their shooting and we do this by
incorporating knowledge that has been obtained
over 40 years of training and international
practical shooting experience, performed at
the highest level,” says Manufacturing, Sales &
Marketing Director, James White.
“When designing Shield Sights, if something
is not required it is not added to our products,”
continues James.
“We pay a ention to key elements which will
rapidly improve our customers’ shooting ability.
These include our sight height over bore line,
which assists the shooters’ ability to acquire the
sight picture early.
The overall size to ensure the sight is not
obtrusive or large and does not dull, dim or
obscure information from the shooters field of
view. These are critical aspects in any shooting
environment to give our customers the edge
in any training, competitive or life-threatening
situation, so they can perform without limits.”
In December 2018 Shield released its fourth
mini red-dot, the RMS-W. It is designed to
resist damage from water or other harsh
environmental conditions. The RMS-W is gasketsealed
to create a watertight fit between the
slide and the ba ery compartment without
the need for additional mounting plates. When
the sight is mounted it will remain watertight
at depths of up to 20 metres for over 30
minutes.
The RMS-W also features a newly designed
frame which adds thickness to the housing as
well as a new side profile. The RMS-W will also
be the first sight in the RMS line to benefit from
the newly developed, hard-coated polymer lens.
The RMS-W has the same footprint as all
previous Shield mini sights and will fit any slide
that has already been cut for the RMS, RMS-C,
SMS or Jpoint.
Shield’s sight mounting options are vast and
they currently o er over 40 solutions to fit a
mini sight to a wide range of popular pistols,
scopes, shotguns and ri es.
All Shield sights and accessories are proudly
made in England.
