Made in Suhl – an indirect gas-operated
system has arrived in a stronger calibre.
C. G. Haenel is adding the calibre variant
.308 Win. to its semi-auto line CR and also
focuses, with this addition to its portfolio, on
the hunting and sport shooting market. C.G.
Haenel Sales Director Andreas Maurer commented:
“It is not only about the calibre variety, but rather
about the stronger cartridge as an alternative and
.308 Win. is definitely the right choice here.”
Haenel has, throughout the years, continuously
updated the CR semi-automatic ri e (CR =
Competition Ri e) in a modified AR-15 Standard
into an extensive product and accessory system.
Benefiting greatly is the strategic co-operation
of the Suhlers with the Swiss gun and accessory
specialist B&T, who are represented by Haenel as its
distributor in Germany.
The ri e is an indirect gas-operated system
(piston system) with adjustable gas release for the
optional use of a suppressor. Also interesting for
sport shooters: The Haenel CR and its accessory
program has already convinced various federal
police forces in their tenders.
The CR 308 has been developed, like the original
CR 223, together with experienced practitioners and
o ers many professional features and adjustment
possibilities for hunters and sport shooters. For
example, le -handed people are happy about the
ambidextrous elements like the loading lever, bolt
release, 60-degree safety and magazine catch.
Furthermore, there are two possible trigger variants:
standard is the two-stage-trigger (trigger weight
28-35 N), which can be optionally converted into a
match trigger (trigger weight 17-20 N). Calibre .308
Win. is available with barrel lengths of 16.5 inch and
20 inch. The bu stock is length-adjustable in six
se ings and therefore o ers perfect ergonomics,
whilst the a achment of standardised AR-15 stocks
(MIL-SPEC) is possible. A special feature of the new
CR generation is the hand guard with two NAR-rails
(12 and 6 o’clock position) and KeyMod rails (3 and
9 o’clock position), which can be detached without
the use of tools.
The magazines for the Haenel CR 308 have a
capacity for ten or 20 rounds. The weight of the ri e
is approx. 4.3 to 4.6kg, depending on the respective
barrel length, which results in an overall length
ranging from 894 to 996mm.
C.G. Haenel stands for a well-rounded range of
large-calibre hunting and sporting ri es, as well
as precision ri es and machine guns for law
enforcement and the military. The company
can refer to a long tradition: The Royal Prussian
Ri e Factory inspector Carl Go lieb Haenel came
to Suhl, Germany with his idea of industrial
ri e production – ri es have been produced
there under the Haenel brand since 1840. The
Haenel arrow soon came to stand for new-style
construction and production principles, precision
and robustness. Modern Haenel ri es also impress
through a pragmatic, functional approach, yet do
not conceal their origin from the gun capital Suhl,
its love of classical gun making and intelligent
details and innovations. Straightforward, but not
soulless. Functional, safe and of the highest quality.
