Wiley X
But what exactly is it that makes its products so appealing and successful?
It all started in 1987 when Myles
Freeman Sr. founded Wiley X to
build and create eyewear designed
to protect U.S. military forces and
law enforcement personnel. Since
that time, Wiley X has grown into a
worldwide leader of protective eyewear
and its products have been adopted by
anglers worldwide, for good reason.
A CLEAR CHOICE
Every adult pair of Wiley X glasses is
ANSI Z87.1 rated and EN.166 certifi ed,
rated, both frames and lenses, not
only for safety but for clarity as
well. The tests cover optical quality,
transmittance, haze and refractive
power, not to mention light diffusion,
UV protection and optical distortion.
This means that, before making it to
shops, Wiley X glasses have to pass
standards that many other brands
don’t even think about.
Because of the amount of testing
involved, Wiley X has developed all the
necessary equipment and resources
to implement the tests internally
in its proprietary laboratory. With
these measures in place, Wiley X has
obtained worldwide accreditation
to the ISO 17025 standard which
governs general requirements for the
competence of testing and calibration
of laboratories.
Wiley X doesn’t rest on its laurels.
Over 30-plus years, this family-owned
company has continually strived to
make the best eyewear possible for its
consumers by combining protection
and clarity. With unique features
and technologies, such as its Facial

This season I have worn the WX Omega with a Polarised Emerald Mirror

better eyewear for my fi shing trips. These glasses provide a sublime
polarised fi lter, a perfect and comfortable fi t, a cool look and protection for
my eyes.”

technology.
This ensures that lenses are decentred
and tapered to meet ANSI
optical clarity standards.
Innovation in the wide array of lens
colours and options has been one
of the main reasons for the success
of Wiley X and its premier athletes
throughout the worldwide fi shing
circuits. With 25-plus lens options
to choose from, including 10-plus
polarised versions, there is a lens tint
that is right for just about anything
any angler would need.
