NORWAY
A country with a rough and rugged landscape
with plenty of options for both hunters and
exporters keen for traction in this Scandinavian
paradise. Gun Trade World gives you the lowdown
on this strong and potentially fruitful market.
HUNTING IN NORWAY
Rougher and even wilder than
Sweden, Norway is becoming
more and more popular as a
destination for international
hunters. Licences for reindeer
are granted to landowners and
are transferable to non-residents,
so hunting is readily available.
e red deer of Norway are
genetically di erent from the
red deer of central Europe, so
SCI has designated them as a
separate subspecies. ese deer
are larger than the Scottish
red deer and smaller than their
continental cousins. ey are
found on the coastal regions of
southwestern Norway.
Norway is also a great
destination for European moose,
although not as popular as
Sweden. In the southern regions
there are also some roe deer and
fallow deer.
e infrastructure in northern
Norway is good and travel
between areas is easy, although
time consuming.
Hunting in the Norwegian
mountains is a fantastic
experience, with large open areas
and steep cli s, lakes, rivers and
ords. Norway is perhaps not
the most visited hunting country
for foreign hunters but hunters
are beginning to recognise
Norway as a very interesting
place for hunting. ere
are reindeer, moose, grouse,
capercaillie, seal, black grouse,
bear and much more to hunt.
