Hornady Plans Open House for New Facility
Mossberg Continues Winning Streak
with NASGW-POMA Caliber Award
During the recent NASGW
(National Association of
Sporting Goods Wholesalers)
Expo & Annual Meeting,
the Mossberg 590M Mag-
Fed shotgun was recognised
with a NASGW-POMA
(Professional Outdoor Media
Association) Caliber Award for
the “Best New Shotgun.”
Joining forces with POMA
for the annual Caliber Awards,
NASGW acknowledges
the best new products in
six categories as well as top
honors for the overall best
new product. To qualify for
these awards, manufacturers
must be a NASGW member,
the product must have been
introduced within the last
year and the product must be

submitted for consideration
through the NASGW Expo
website.
While accepting the
award, John MacLellan,
Vice President of Sales and
Marketing, commented,
“First and foremost, we have
to thank NASGW and the
support provided by our
distributors. The 590M, our
mag-fed shotgun, required
tremendous team effort from
our engineering group and
supply partner, Adaptive
Tactical. We are pleased to
present this innovative product
to our customers and honoured
at being recognised with this
Caliber Award.”
Last year, Mossberg won
the Caliber Award for “Best
New Overall Product” with
the introduction of the 590
Shockwave. This compact
12-gauge firearm has all of
the features of Mossberg’s
legendary pump-action
platform combined with
Shockwave Technologies
Raptor pistol grip, strapped
forend and 14-inch barrel
length.

Annual Meeting provides
educational, marketing and
communications opportunities
for hunting, sporting
goods and shooting sports
wholesalers and manufacturers.
This year’s Expo was held from
October 16 to 19 at the David
L. Lawrence Convention
Center in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania.

Hornady, a fixture of the Grand
Island, Nebraska business
community for nearly 70 years, has
opened a new chapter in its history
with a public open house for its
new Hornady “West” facility.
The programme featured
special guests Gov. Pete Ricketts,
Mayor Jeremy Jensen, US Sen.
Deb Fischer and US.Rep. Adrian
Smith. The public was welcomed
to attend the grand opening
and participated in tours that
were available throughout the
afternoon.
Hornady “West” represents the
continued success and growth of
the company, which JW Hornady
founded in 1949 in a small shop
on Fourth Street in Grand Island.
Hornady opened its main plant
just west of Grand Island in 1958.
In 2010 Hornady purchased
320 acres on the former
Cornhusker Army Ammunition
Plant grounds to house not only
this new facility, but also new
R&D capabilities and other
support services for the company’s
production operations. The
company broke ground on this
new 150,000 sq ft production
and shipping facility in 2017
and began to ship from this new
location earlier this month.
The company will mark its 70th
anniversary in 2019.
