If hunters and
huntresses could
relive all of their past
hunting seasons in
their mind’s eye, most
would fi nd that a quick
second shot was hardly
ever necessary – driven
boar hunts excepted,
of course. Th anks to
the stricter laws and
regulations which you
should and must follow,
how often did you have
to clumsily load and
unload your bolt action
– the most popular of
all hunting rifl es – in
the dark? How simple
in comparison is the
loading and unloading
of a break-action rifl e!
Without even looking,
you can let the cartridge
glide into the chamber
and, almost without
assistance, the cartridge
or fi red case will fall
into your open hand
(at least with rimmed
cartridges). In the worstcase
scenario, a quick
follow-up shot is no
problem, unless you are
trying to shoot a brace.
A second shot will
hardly ever be necessary
anyway, since the K95 is
a precision instrument.
Its outstanding accuracy
is not just thanks to its
fi rst-class trigger and
perfect balance but is,
above all, because of its
ingenious tipping block
breech lock. Whereas
older generation breakaction
rifl es were known
to be fi nicky when it
comes to accuracy, the
K95 does not take a
backseat to the bolt
rifl e – not even its
conservatively styled
Stutzen variant.
Its unbelievable
handiness makes an
especially positive
impression. A twopiece
fore-end ensures
reliability and means
that accuracy-reducing
infl uences such as
wood warpage – often
observed in one-piece
fore-ends – cannot, by
design, occur.
Last but not least, the
manual cocking system
of the K95 off ers the
highest level of safety.
Th is level of confi dence
while carrying a loaded
rifl e can only be felt
when the hunter knows
that the fi ring pin is
completely de-cocked.
Th is is a confi dence
that matters. not only
during a stalk but also in
the high seat when the
rifl e lies in wait upon
the cross-rail, ready for
action. A confi dence
that makes a K95 a rifl e
something that you will
always want with you in
the fi eld.
It was once
considered a
‘gentleman’s gun’ –
an elegant stalking
rifl e for the wellheeled
hunter.
The single-shot
break-action rifl e
has conquered a
much larger group
of users since those
days – and with
good reason.
