GTW
FEATURE
left-hand set-up and as a Traveller option.
Th e Ambassador is the company’s fl agship
model with a classic, unmistakably English
design. Th e stock follows the traditional
lines of bygone days with an open grip, a
slim forearm capped with rosewood and
is fi nished with linseed oil to enhance the
fi gure and beauty of the wood. Th e Legacy
is a trim little short-action carbine-style rifl e
available in .222, .223 and .300 Blackout.
Last but not least is the Tactical model,
featuring an integral Picatinny rail. Th is is
the rifl e of choice for those who demand
the stability and precision of a heavier
platform. Th e Tactical comes as standard
with an adjustable single stage trigger. A
double-stage match trigger is available as
an option. Th e fi rst stage of the pull takes
up 60 per cent of the pull weight, making
for a very light and crisp fi nal break. Th is
two-stage trigger setup allows for absolute
precision, while still ensuring safety in all
conditions. All models except the Tactical,
are milled to accept Schultz & Larsen’s
proprietary Slide & Lock scope mounts
incorporating a summer (only one layer
of clothing) and winter (lots of layers of
clothing) scope position. Th is design was
obviously inspired by the harsh Danish
winters. For those preferring a diff erent
scope mount, actions are drilled and tapped
to accept Weaver or other bases. Whatever
the model, all Schultz & Larsen rifl es share
an easily switched/removable rifl ed cut
barrel, a three-position safety and a really
smooth bolt action. Noteworthy is the fact
Schultz & Larsen also produces its own
range of silencers, obviously designed to
complement their rifl es. Th e silencer range
includes both muzzle mounted and overbarrel
moderators, all designed to withstand
repeated fi ring with heavy calibres. Th e
popularity of Schultz & Larsen’s proprietary
silencers is such that a range of thread sizes
are available to fi t other rifl e brands.
DISCREET YET PROMISING
It is always a pleasure to meet up with
passionate, knowledgeable as well as
camera-shy, craftsmen like Morten Krogh
and his team. Here, over a century of
know-how merges with traditional as well as
contemporary production methods, without
creating much noise in the marketplace.
Morten sums this up well: “At Schultz &
Larsen our primary focus is making the best
rifl es possible. Th at’s why we don’t mind
fl ying under the radar. Our quality speaks
for itself.”
