Accolade thermal
imaging binoculars
Announced at the beginning of the year, Accolade thermal
imaging binoculars have already managed to gain
popularity among professional hunters, rescue teams
and nature conservation authorities. The quality of Pulsar
units is well known on the market and that’s why the new
binocular was accepted with such enthusiasm.
The Accolade thermal imaging
binoculars are no larger than
traditional day binoculars but off er a
greater number of features and a far better
detection capability than any day optics.
In the night when a regular binocular
becomes useless, Accolade provides an
unprecedented level of image clarity.
Th e top model XP50 incorporates a
high-quality thermal imaging sensor.
Resolution of the sensor 640x480 pixels
ensures that even the smallest detail of
animals can be well distinguished in
complete darkness. Th e unit has a 50HZ
refresh rate which means that the image
will be smooth without any breaks or
stops.
All controls are conveniently located
on the top of the binoculars, making
operation easy for left and right-handed
users – ergonomics is one of the strong
points of this unit.
Th e diopter setting has to be adjusted
separately for each eye piece. Interpapillary
distance can be adjusted as well, ensuring
that the unit fi ts perfectly for every
individual eye setup. Th e focusing knob
is located between the eyepieces like in
regular day binoculars. Accolade is meant
for long observation when hours have to
be spent at the location to spot the object
of interest. Th e comfort of observing with
both eyes is much greater compared to
other options.
Th e unit has many auxiliary features
that can be very useful in various scenarios.
A built-in video recorder with 8Gb
of internal memory will be useful to
capture unique moments during hunting,
conservation specialists use recorded
videos for wild animal counting. A Wi-Fi
module in the binocular helps to connect
it to the smartphone. With the help of the
free Stream Vision application, the users
can update software of the binoculars,
download recorded fi les and see images
from the unit on the smartphone’s screen.
For long-range shooters the Stream
Vision app also contains a ballistic
calculator.
Advanced software contained within
the binoculars means you can provide full
control over image quality. Th ere are eight
colour modes, picture in picture function,
contrast and brightness settings, and
three observation modes. In general, the
user can adjust the settings to achieve the
desired level of image quality.
Fully waterproof housing of the
unit makes it suitable for bad weather
applications. If the unit is used in heavy
rain or on a boat in a stormy sea the owner
need not be afraid that it will be damaged
by water.
Th e famous Pulsar B-Pack power
system provides energy for at least seven
hours. Th e quick-change rechargeable
batteries can be swapped in seconds, if
necessary the power to the unit can be fed
via a micro-USB socket located on the left
side of the housing under a thick rubber
cap.
Bearing in mind that binoculars are
regularly more expensive than monoculars
it’s no wonder that Accolade’s price
is higher than rest of Pulsar products.
However, it should be noted that it is still
much lower than the price of competitors.
With all their numerous advantages
Accolade thermal imaging binoculars are a
top solution available in today’s market.
