TOP SELLERS
Th e original scope mount
designed in the 1970s, with a few
modern tweaks, is Sportmatch’s
top selling product to this day
but Matthew does see the market
changing in recent years.
“Demand for adjustable
mounts has increased over the
last few years. Users have trouble
lining up their scope with fi xed
mounts so the adjustable mount
makes life easier.
“Although 99 per cent of our
manufacturing is completed
in-house we used another local
company for some aspects of the
manufacturing process, however
we have now brought in machines
from this company which now
allows us to manufacture not only
our core product but products for
other markets, which is something
we are looking to expand into.
“Overseas markets are strong
for us,” said Matthew. “Th e UK
market has slowed but overall
business is up. Our export model
is to go through distributors, we
don’t sell directly to the shops. We
have one distributor per country
apart from in America where we
have two that cover the whole
country. We’re really happy with
the way our export model is
structured and sales refl ect this.”
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Most businesses are looking for
growth and Sportsmatch is no
diff erent, “We would like to build
in South America, this region has
big potential,” suggests Matthew.
“We would certainly welcome
trade enquires from South
American distributors.
“As we expand I’d like us
to move into bigger premises,
certainly now that we have new
machinery and our sales are
growing.”
It’s unquestionably exciting
times for Sportmatch, a company
that has come a long way from its
